Della qualified in 1991 gaining the NEBDN national qualification. She has over 20 years' experience in all aspects of dentistry and manages our large team with great efficiency as well as dealing with any patient concerns and planning the future developments for the practice with the partners, Stephen Denny and Eoin Smart. She completed the BTEC Diploma in Practice Management with distinction in 2007.
We have 13 dental care professionals, including 3 trainee nurses in our team. Our dental nurse team is lead by Vanessa, our head nurse. All our dental care professionals regularly undertake professional development and are register with the General Dental Council.
Maureen and Justine lead our reception team. Maureen joined the practice in March 2000 and Justine joined the practice in February 2005. They run and train our reception teams at both practices and ensure things run smoothly.
Dr Stephen Denny GDC 64697
Stephen has been working in Benfleet since 2000. He has special interests in orthodontics, teaching and all aspects of family dentistry. He became a vocational trainer in 2007 for the East of England Deanery and an honorary tutor for London & Barts Dental Hospital in 2008. He teaches and lectures to dental students at Southend Outreach. He became a clinical educator and part time lecturer for the oral hygiene programme run through Essex University in 2008. He completed his teaching qualification in dental and medical education in 2009. Stephen has cared for many families for over 20 years.
He was a clinical assistant in orthodontics for over 20 years at Basildon, Oldchurch and Queen’s hospitals. He offers NHS and private orthodontics and takes referrals from local practices for orthodontics.
Dr Eoin Smart GDC 64716
Eoin has been in Benfleet since 2000 and is one of the partners. He qualified with Stephen from Sheffield University in 1989. He has worked in hospitals around the UK training in maxillofacial surgery. This has enabled Eoin to have a special interest in minor oral surgery and sedation. He provides a range of oral surgery procedures to our patients, including removal of wisdom teeth, fraenectomies and sedation for anxious or phobic patients.
Dr Paula Denny GDC 59852
Paula is Stephen’s sister. She joined the team in 2001 and has worked in Essex since 1985. She has been providing pain free dental care to some of her patients for over 25 years. Paula became a joint vocational trainer in 2011 and is also a clinical educator for the oral hygiene programme run through Essex University. She has just completed her teaching qualification in dental and medical education.
Dr Alistair McNeill GDC 154773
Alistair spent 3 years in Bristol studying for his first degree and then went to Whitechapel to study dentistry and qualified in 2008. He spent his training year at The Benfleet Dental Clinic and has remained here since, providing general dentistry, orthodontics and a full range of cosmetic dentistry.
Alistair has completed many postgraduate courses in all aspects of restorative dentistry as well as completing a course in implants.
Dr Tara Barry GDC 114630
Tara went to Kings College London to study dentistry qualifying in 2007. She joined the practice in 2009 following placements in both hospital and general practice. Tara is a joint vocational trainer on the East of England deanery with Paula Denny. Having completed her teaching qualification in Dental and Medical education she is a clinical dental tutor for the Barts and London outreach clinic. Tara has just completed a postgraduate diploma in Conscious Sedation from Guys hospital and has a special interest in treating nervous patients, oral surgery and all aspects of family dentistry.
Dr Lindsey Brown GDC 194116
Lindsey also did her training year at our practices and has stayed on part-time in the team as an associate. She did her first degree, then a Phd before studying dentistry at Barts & London Dental School. She qualified in 2010.
Lindsey is about to start teaching at Southend Outreach, which shows how highly regarded she was by her tutors at the university. Lindsey enjoys all aspects of family dentistry and has attended many postgraduate courses since qualifying.
Dr Faisal Wahed GDC 192442
Faisal graduated from the University of Birmingham dental school after having completed a degree in Biomedical Science, After foundation training in Hackney Faisal worked as a hospital dentist in Queensland, Australia. Having thoroughly enjoyed his experience in Australia Faisal returned to general dentistry in the UK joining the practice in 2013 where he is committed to providing high quality dentistry as well as a positive dental experience.
Dr Rachel Wilson
Orthodontic Specialist GDC 112771
Rachel qualified from Bristol University in 2007 and consolidated her skills in general practice as part of her national vocational training. She then went on to work in a number of central London hospitals including Great Ormond street,UCH and The Royal London Hospitals,as part of the Oral & Maxillofacial surgery teams managing complex trauma and oncology cases,giving fantastic grounding for a specialist career. During this time she gained her membership in the Faculty of Dental Surgery exam at The Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh. Following a further year in paediatric dentistry at The Royal London Hospital,she then embarked on a three-year specialist training course in Orthodontics where she was awarded her masters in Orthodontics in addition to being awarded her Masters in Orthodontics in addition to being awarded Membership in Orthodontics with the royal College of Surgeons of England. Rachel joined our Orthodontic team at The Studio in 2013.

Specialist in General Stomatology, Exit Examination, Nov 1996, and Senior specialist( medic primar)- June 2001, UMF Carol Davila.Specialist in PR and Communication- University of Bucharest, 2000-2001. PG, Project Management,Bucharest,2006. PhD, June 2007,Thesis : Prevention of caries and periodontal disease in institutionalized adolescents with mental disabilities. 1994-2007 Member of the Academic Staff at UMF Carol Davila, in the following departments: Postgraduate Department (Oral Rehabilitation), Preventive Dentistry and Community Dentistry, then as a Lecturer in Oral Health, and Head of the Oral Health and Behavioural Sciences developing the discipline, various national and international research and community projects mainly in closed communities, and participating to numerous nationally granted research projects. Co-developer of the Dental Hygienist College at UMFCD, Bucharest, where have taught periodontology, prevention and community dentistry, between 1995-2007.
Founder of the Romanian Association of Disability and Oral Health, affiliated IADH, Council Member. At the same time being a private specialist practitioner in Restorative Dentistry. In 2007 have relocated in the UK where have been a GDP in a corporate body and then in 2009 joined QMUL as a Clinical Lecturer in Primary Dental Care.
